Golf in Cambodia

2destinations
6courses

Cambodia is still a low-key golf destination, where the appeal lies in pairing a few well-kept courses with discovering the country. Siem Reap is the anchor: twenty to twenty-five minutes from the centre, Phokeethra Country Club, which has hosted the Asian Tour's Cambodian Open, and Siem Reap Booyoung Country Club, near the Roluos temples, let you visit the temples of Angkor at dawn and play afterwards, or the other way round. Phnom Penh, the capital, has four 18-hole courses less than an hour from the centre: Garden City, the East and West courses designed by Nick Faldo at Vattanac, and Grand Phnom Penh, by Nicklaus Design. The two cities combine easily, about five hours apart by road.

The best season is November to February, during the dry season, with cooler mornings; March is for early starts, April is the hottest month, and the monsoon, from May to October or November, turns the fairways lush with showers that tend to fall in the afternoon. We arrange tailor-made trips there: reserved tee times, private transfers, guides for the temples, characterful hotels and tables chosen for the evening.
