Golf in Greece

Greece is not a golfing country in the way Scotland or Portugal are: it has few courses. Most golf holidays are played in a single place, Costa Navarino, in Messinia, at the south-western tip of the Peloponnese, where four 18-hole courses surround Navarino Bay, near Pylos: Bernhard Langer's Dunes Course, opened in 2010 among olive groves by the Ionian Sea, Robert Trent Jones II's Bay Course, on the shore of the bay among centuries-old olive trees, and José María Olazábal's two layouts at Navarino Hills, the International Olympic Academy Golf Course and the Hills Course.

Spring, from March to June, and autumn, in September and October, offer the best conditions: mild weather, long days and courses in good shape. Summer is hot, so you play early in the morning before the beach. We arrange tailor-made stays of five to seven nights there, staying on site, with half a day for Pylos and its Ottoman fortress and a visit to the Palace of Nestor, the Mycenaean site that Homer's epics attribute to the old king of Pylos.
