Golf in the Dominican Republic

1destinations
3courses

The Dominican Republic has more than twenty-five golf courses, the best known of them running along the sea on coral rock. Punta Cana, at the eastern tip of the island, has Jack Nicklaus's Punta Espada, Tom Fazio's Corales, which hosts a PGA Tour event, and the twenty-seven holes of La Cana. Further south-west, Casa de Campo at La Romana is home to Teeth of the Dog, designed by Pete Dye and reserved for guests of the resort; on the north coast, Playa Grande follows the Atlantic cliffs.

The season runs from December to April: steady trade winds, around 29 degrees in the afternoon and little rain, especially from February to April. From June to November, humid heat and the hurricane season make the trip less appealing. Punta Cana is about nine hours from Paris by direct flight. We put together tailor-made trips there, with early tee times booked, caddies, private transfers between hotel and courses, and a night or two at Casa de Campo to play Teeth of the Dog.
